Even in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, which half-drowned our biggest metropolis, Congress is still ostriching on climate change and thinking about chopping clean-energy programs as part of fiscal cliff, part II. Meanwhile, China, which has been leading the way on futuristic ideas from offshore wind energy to high-speed rail, is spearheading the development of nuclear energy derived from thorium, a naturally occurring radioactive element.

The problem with nuclear is that the mass media has created an hysteria around it, the average person in the street believes that nuclear power and nuclear weapons are one and the same, yes you can use the enriched products of power production for making weapons. The problem is this then reduces the capacity to produce power. Another major issue is the waste products and their disposal, this plan seems to address this in some way. Sure we will have naysayers speaking out against it.
Nuclear fusion is the ultimate, but it hasn’t been possible yet, when it is achieved this will solve the energy problem for a long time.
Fusion may be closer than you think!
